Fuel efficient cars
The
most fuel efficient cars are the new hybrids, but you do not need
to go out and buy a hybrid to have a fuel efficient car. There are
many other, non-hybrid vehicles that can get very good gas mileage.
Just take a look at the top 10 list of fuel efficient cars in 2006.
You will notice a mix of both hybrids and non-hybrids… although
the top three fuel efficient cars are, indeed, hybrids.
· Honda Insight – 60/66 (city/highway mpg)
· Toyota Prius — 60/51
· Honda Civic Hybrid — 49/51
· Volkswagen Golf TDI — 37/44
· Volkswagen New Beetle TDI — 37/44
· Volkswagen Jetta TDI — 36/41
· Toyota Corolla — 32/41
· Scion xA — 32/37
· Hyundai Accent — 32/35
· Kia Rio — 32/35
· Honda Civic — 30/40
· Pontiac Vibe — 30/36
· Toyota Matrix — 30/36
This list of fuel efficient cars is based solely on the EPA rating.
Of course, the true fuel efficiency of each of these cars changes
depending on the driver and other real-life situations. For instance,
although the Toyota Prius is rated as getting 60 mpg in the city
and 51 on the highway, many drivers find that they are more likely
to get 48 mpg overall (which is still an excellent gas mileage!)
There are other ways to organize the most fuel efficient cars.
For instance, there are other cars, like the Hyundai Sonata that
did not make it onto this list. But the Hyundai Sonata is the most
efficient “large car,” getting 24/34 (city/highway)
mpg. So, you can rate the most fuel efficient cars based off of
the particular category that they fit into.
It is also interesting to take a look at the least fuel efficient
cars. Take at look at these cars that are not very fuel efficient:
· Bugatti Veyron – 8/15 (city/highway)
· Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup – 9/12
· Bentley Arnage – 10/14
· Aston Martin V12 Vanquish S – 11/17
· Maserati Coupe Cabiocorsa/qt/q-sport – 12/19
· Audi S4 Avant – 12/21
· Jeep Grand Cherokee – 12/15
These lists will give you an idea of the most and least fuel-efficient
cars. Having a fuel efficient car is important because it will not
only save you money (on gas) in the long run, but it will also put
you one step closer to saving the environment, as well.
